In our first of 2 fights featuring a reigning champion, Antonio Carlos Jr. AKA “Shoeface” welcomes Delan Monte to the PFL SmartCage for the first time. Shoeface looks to keep his momentum going after a 3-0-1 2021 campaign that saw him crowned a champion and wherein he made more money than his entire UFC career. There is also some history between these 2 men, as back in Brazil Monte was actually Shoeface’s Judo instructor and training partner.
Round 1
We open with both men exchanging jabs, Shoeface perhaps looking to show off his fancy new Muay Thai. Shoeface gets clipped quick but comes back with a hard right hand that stuns Monte and may have put him out cold for a second.
Shoeface takes it to the ground and immediately jumps a D’arce choke and folks, that’s all she wrote! 28-second victory, good for the second-fastest finish in PFL light heavyweight history!
28 Second D'Arce Choke for @caradesapatojr!
